GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Edificar is a Costa Rican construction company founded in 1984. The firm is especially interested in complying with the rigorous standards of quality and time management in the development of construction projects that a demanding market requires. From the very beginning, technical and administrative systems were created to guarantee the fulfillment of this objective.

The philosophy of the company also includes operating in accordance with the highest of ethical and moral values, as well as conceptualizing work as the result of the combined efforts of three interested groups: the owner, the consultant, and the construction company.

To guarantee Edificar’s operation within a framework of transparency, objectivity, and justice, we follow our own Code of Ethics in which our values follow the strictest norms of ethical conduct. This is especially important in our type of contracts, where trust in the construction company is vital for optimum advancement of a project.

Edificar is ISO 9001-2000 and OHSAS 18001-1999 certified. This not only helps our organization to be consistent and systematic, but it also enables us to seek better labor costs and productivity. We will be ISO 14000 certified by mid 2008.

Edificar has a management team comprised of thirty two engineers, managed by Román Salazar (partner), Juan José Castro (partner), and Luis Araya and Mauricio Castro. Both of the partners are civil engineers, the third team member is an electromechanical engineer, and the fourth member is a mechanical engineer. All four have MBAs and are duly incorporated and registered in the Federal College of Engineers and Architects of Costa Rica.

Edificar has offices in San José, Central Pacific and Liberia. In Central Pacific Architect Raúl Goddard is the key officer and in Liberia Engineer Mauricio Laurent.

Edificar counts with considerable commercial credit lines and sufficient working capital to contract and carry out large-scale buildings in the Costa Rican construction environment.

The construction experience of the company is varied. It includes hotels, apartment buildings, offices, industrial warehouses, malls, gas stations, educational and research institutes, complicated refurbishing, and homes, among others.

As examples we can mention the next: the Four Seasons Hotel, and the Papagayo Golf Club, the Marriott Hotel Los Sueños, Hampton Inn and Suites, Garden Court Hotel, Best Western San José, Outback and Denny´s restaurants, Casino Fiesta at the Airport, Hipermás Guadalupe, Automercados Heredia, Moravia and Escazú, Price Smart Heredia, Escazú, Zapote and Tibás, Bridgestone Firestone, Proquinal, Atlantis Plaza in Escazú, the Iron Factory in Guapiles, the Jaco Princess Villas, the Jaco Plaza Commercial Center, housing for managers of Cobal in Guapiles, the Nativa Residential Condo project (now under construction on its third phase), the Vista Mar project in Jacó and so on.
